Banana Appam-Paniyaram

Usualy we prepare sweet appam/paniyaram as a sweet dish for any special occasion or festivals. Here I have tried sweet less appam for breakfast. I had some left over ripen banana at home so to finish them I have tried this recipe.

Ingredients:

White rice/ Rice flour- 1 cup
Banana fruits-2
Grated jaggery- 1-2 tbl sp (optional)
Grated coconut- 1-2 tbl sp
Salt to taste
Ghee- ¼ cup

Note: You can also try this recipe with cucumber(small sized-1) instead of  banana.

Recipe:

Soak the rice for about 4-5 hours in water.

Grind the rice, banana & salt to a fine paste. The batter should be little bit thicker than idli batter.

Then add grated coconut and mix it well.

Now pour a tsp ghee in all the appam mould.

Pour a tbl sp batter into each appam mould.

Let it cook for 3-5  minutes in a low to medium flame.

When one side is cooked well; flip over to cook another side. Add few drops of ghee if required.

Serve with spicy chutney.
