Dappa avalakki oggarane

Ingredients:

Thick aval/poha/avalakki/rice flakes- 1 cup
Onion- 1
Tomato-small one(optional)
Green chily- 1
Ginger paste- small pinch
Curry leaves- Few
Oil- 2 tbl sp
Red chilly- 1
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Peanuts- 1-2 tbl sp
Urad dal- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Finely chopped coriander leaves- 1 tbl sp
Grated coconut- 1-2 tbl sp
Lemon Juice- 1 tbl sp

Method:

Wash poha 3-4 times and leave it aside for 10 mins.

Chop the onion & green chilly. Finely chop the coriander leaves.

Heat oil in a pan add the seasoning ingredients like peanuts, red chilly, urad dal & mustard seeds.

Now fry the onion, green chilly & curry leaves.

Add soaked aval, ginger paste, turmeric powder & salt. Mix well.

Cover the lid & cook for about 2-3 minutes.

(Note: The poha absorbs water while soaking is enough. If needed add 1/4 cup water. Do not add too much water.)

Garnish with coriander & grated coconut.
Add lemon juice just before serving & mix well.
