Sambar for Idli

Sambar for Idli

Ingredients:

Toor Dal -1/2 cup
Tomato -2
Onion- 1
Carrot -2
Turmeric powder- Small pinch
Tamarind- Small pinch
Jaggery- Small piece
Salt to taste
Ghee - 1 tsp
Green chilly- 1
Coriander leaves- Few
Sambar powder- 1-2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
(How to prepare Sambar powder:
Coriander seeds- 1 tsp, Urad dal- 1/2 tsp, Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp, Fenugreek seeds-1/4 tsp, Hing- 1/4tsp, Oil- 1 tsp.
Fry all the ingredients and powder it.)

To temper:

Red chilly- 1
Urad Dal -1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds-1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds -1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - One strand
Ghee- 1 tsp

Recipe:

Pressure cook the dal.
Chop the vegetables. Cook the carrot separately.
Heat ghee and fry the Red chilly, Urad Dal, Cumin seeds, Mustard Seeds, Hing, Curry Leaves, onion, green chilly & tomato.
Mix all cooked and fried ingredients.
Add salt, jaggery, tamarind, turmeric powder & sambar powder.
Now just cook upto boil.
Finally add chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with  idli.
