Deevi halasu ( Jeegujje/Deegujje/Bread fruit) Podi
Bread fruit podi

Ingredients:

1/2 of a big breadfruit
Oil for deep frying

Batter for coating:

Gram flour/besan- 1 cup
Rice flour- 1 tbl sp (Optional)
Chilly powder- ¼- ½ tsp
Asafoetida/hing- small pinch
Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
Water as required
Salt to taste

Method:

Peel the green outer skin of bread fruit and chop them.

Mix all the ingredients for the batter.
(Note: The batter should be not be too thin or thick. It should be coat exactly when we put the breadfruit slices in it.)

Put the bread fruit slices in the batter for coating.
Heat the oil in a pan. Put the breadfruit slices and deep fry until golden colour.

Drain off excess oil.
Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
Bread fruit podi
Best snack for evening with tea or coffee.
