Moong dal kheer - ಹೆಸರು ಬೇಳೆ ಪಾಯಸ 
Moong dal kheer
  • Moong dal- 1cup
  • Grated coconut- 1 cup
  • Jaggery- 1 cup
  • Cashew nuts & raisins- 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp
  • Ghee- 2 tbl sp

1. Add 1 tbl sp ghee in a pan; fry the moong dal.
2. Also fry the dry fruits & keep them aside.
3. Grind the coconut by adding ½ cup water; squeeze the coconut milk.
4. Again grind the residue by adding ½ cup water & squeeze the coconut milk.
5. Keep both the coconut milk extracts separately.
6. Cook the fried moong dal in the second coconut milk extract; keep on stirring to avoid sticking to the bottom.
(if you are using  pressure cooker then cook upto 2 whistles)
7. Once it is cooked well add jaggery & keep on stirring.
8. Once the jaggery dissolves add first extracted coconut milk; stir & cook to boil.
9. Finally add cardamom powder & fried dry fruits.
