Halasina beejada (Jack fruit seed) holige/obbattu - ಹಲಸಿನ ಬೀಜದ ಹೋಳಿಗೆ /ಒಬ್ಬಟ್ಟು 

Halasina beejada (Jack fruit seed) holige/obbattu

Ingredients:

Chopped jack fruit seeds- 2 cups
Jaggery-1 cup
Maida flour- 1 cup or White rice- 1 cup
Ghee- 4-5 tsp
Cardamom powder- 1/4 tsp

Method:

1. Take maida in bowl, add water & 2 tsp of ghee and knead it; the consistency is bit thin than that of chapathi's/poori's and make lemon sized balls;rest for at least 1 hour. This is called dough.
2. Remove the outer cover of jack fruit seeds.

3. Remove the thin brown outer cover of the jack fruit seeds.
4. Chop them into thin round pieces.

5. Cook them well with water by covering a lid.

6. Drain all the water contents and add  jaggery; mix them well.

7. Keep aside until it comes to room temperature.

8. Grind the mixture into smooth paste by without adding any water. Apply little ghee on hands and make lemon sized balls. This is called hurna.
9. Now place the hurna on bit flattened maida dough and cover it from all the sides.

10. Roll it equally from all the sides as we prepare chapathi's.
11. Put the rolled holige on heated tava; drizzle few drops of ghee and cook both the sides.

12.Now the holige is ready to serve; tastes good with ghee.

Another method: 

Instead of using maida dough you can also use rice batter.

Take 1 cup of white rice, soak in it for 3-4 hours and grind it by adding sufficient amount of water.

The consistency of the batter should be like that of milkshake.

Roll the hurna by applying little ghee on the plastic sheets.

Dip the rolled hurna in the rice batter and bake it on the heated pan by adding little ghee on both the sides.)
Put the holige on the heated tava; drizzle few drops of ghee and cook both the sides.
Now jack seed obbattu/holige is ready to serve.
